NEW DELHI (NNN-KUNA) -- India's External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will visit Iran on Feb. 6-7 as part of the regular process of high-level exchanges between the two countries.

An Indian External Affairs Ministry release here Thursday said Mukherjee will visit Iran, his first as external affairs minister, as part of the regular process of high-level exchanges and hold talks with his counterpart Manuchehr Mottaki on Feb 7. He will also meet President Mahmud Ahmedinejad and some other leaders.

Ahead of Mukherjee's visit, the U.S. Thursday said it accepts India's relations with Iran.

"India has a relationship with Iran. We know and we accept that," U.S. Ambassador to India David C. Mulford told reporters here.

He said India has been supportive of the processes on Iran in the UN and has been supportive of the sanctions arrangement that has been agreed at.

"We don't have any doubt on India's commitment to those things," he said.
